The Narrative
The Birth of my Niece
Interviewed: Guadalupe
Guadalupe’s sister Brenda married Salvador approximately in 2005. After their marriage they decided to try and start a family, and were surprised by the fact that Brenda has been unable to conceive. Brenda and Salvador have been trying to have a baby for several years and have been un-successful in their attempts.
Brenda decided to go see a doctor to find out if anything was wrong because she has not been able to get pregnant. Brenda has been seeing a OB/GYN for over two years and still no baby, she did however think she was pregnant on two different occasions, and to her disappointment they were false hopes.
Brenda finally was able to conceive, but then something terrible happened, for she lost the very baby she thought that she was finally going to be able to have. After a few years of trying, going to see a doctor, and finally a miscarriage. Brenda decided that she had enough, and eventually Brenda and Salvador gave up on the idea of having a baby.
After Brenda and Salvador gave up on the idea of having a child of their own, then low and behold Brenda was finally able to conceive and she became pregnant. Brenda was amazed when she became pregnant, and did not really believe that she was actually pregnant, even after it was confirmed by her doctor.
Brenda did not have any morning sickness to confirm the fact that she was indeed pregnant, but she did start gaining weight, and then the baby started moving around and before you know it, she had the “Baby Bump” and was actually showing.
The family member’s were as happy as can be about Brenda becoming pregnant for now they can see the “Baby Bump.” The family wanted to start planning for the happy event with the new addition to the family “Little Baby Chloe” was soon to come. Brenda was still in shock and she did not want to plan anything, but “oh no” the family said as we will take care of everything.
Brenda had a doctor’s appointment where Salvador was able to attend and hear the baby’s heartbeat, and see the baby by way of ultrasound. Oh how sweet the little girl will be both Brenda and Salvador both did agree.
Little baby girl Chloe decided to enter the world on May 29. Chloe was 6 pounds and she put her mother through 18 hours of agonizing labor. “My poor sister was in hard labor for 18 hours” Guadalupe said. Brenda had the normal baby blues after the birth of Chloe, and became very depressed, but she had family to help her through this and family was happy to visit the little darling as often as can be.
“Wow” Guadalupe thought for now “I am a Aunt, and my sister is a mom.” When her niece was born Guadalupe was breathless to see her, the newest addition to the family, a niece, and now she is a “auntie.”
What Guadalupe learned from this was the wonderful relationships that Aunties and Nieces have, spending time together, and getting to know each other. Guadalupe enjoys her time with her niece.
